Medborgarskap (citizenship)
The legal bond between a person and a state.
Being a Swedish citizen gives you, among other things, the right to vote in Riksdag elections, the right to a Swedish passport, and an unconditional right to live and work in Sweden.
Example
Only Swedish citizens may vote in elections to the Riksdag.
Why it matters
Citizenship carries rights that do not come with a residence permit.
