I've received a letter about the test – what do I do now?

A notification letter from the Migration Agency is what gives you the right to register for the civics test with UHR. Here's how it works.

Read the letter carefully
The notification letter comes from the Migration Agency and means you need to show your civic knowledge through UHR's test. The letter contains a personal code you may need.

Create a UHR account
You create the account with BankID, Freja eID, or with your personal identity number plus the personal code in the letter.

Register once registration opens
You can't book the test freely. Registration opens during a period set by UHR. Right now, no registration period has been published.

Apply for accommodations in time
If you need extra time, enlarged text, or an adapted test environment, apply for it when you register and upload certificates as a PDF.

Get your admission notice
About a week before the test day, the admission notice is published on your UHR account. Print it and bring it with you.

Bring valid ID
A Swedish ID card from the Tax Agency, a Swedish driving licence, or a Swedish SIS-marked ID card. A foreign passport is not enough, and e-identification cannot be used in the test venue.

After the test
The result is shown on your UHR account and is automatically reported to the Migration Agency, which continues processing your application.

Haven't received a letter?

Then you can't register yet. The Migration Agency first assesses whether your grades or other qualifications already meet the knowledge requirement.
