Who needs to take the citizenship test?
The requirement mainly applies to you if you are applying for Swedish citizenship and cannot show your knowledge in any other approved way.

If you are planning to apply for Swedish citizenship, or already have an application in progress, it is Migrationsverket that decides whether the knowledge requirement applies to you and whether you meet it.
Factors that matter
- Your age.
- When your application was submitted.
- Whether you have studied in Sweden and have grades that show the knowledge.
- Whether there are special reasons in your case, for example health reasons.
